New version 8.0 software for Axicon barcode verifiers

Axicon Auto ID Limited has just released the latest software for its Axicon 15000 range of barcode verifiers.  This release includes changes made to comply with the December 2024 version of ISO/IEC 15415, the international standard for the grading of the quality of 2D barcodes.   It also includes changes required by the 2025 update of ISO/IEC 15416, the standard for grading linear barcodes.

The main change is the move to continuous grading, to one decimal place, rather than to simply five integer values, for 2D barcodes, similar to that for linear barcodes.  The methods for calculating some of the parameters used to grade the barcodes have also been updated.

The changes required by ISO/IEC 15415: 2024 are explained in more detail here.

Other changes include those made to keep the data checking plugins in line with the 2025 version of the GS1 General Specifications, and modifications to improve the functionality of the software.
